Setting up your land

The information you enter in your land setup windows is used to build your land tree, which is used extensively throughout the program.

We recommend setting up your largest parcels of land first (quarters, zones, lots), then allocating your smaller parcels of land (fields, rows, concessions) to them.

Note: When you create a new data file, the default land labels are Quarters and Fields, as used in the examples below. To customize the labels to your needs (for example, if your land is organized by lots and concessions) go to Setup>Software Preferences.

Setting up Quarters

To open the Quarters window, go to Setup>Quarters. The information in this window is used to define your largest land areas. A separate list is maintained for each crop year.Note: Entering your largest land areas is optional, but it makes your land tree more functional if you enter these items and allocate your smallest land areas to them.

Setting up Fields

To open the Fields window, go to Setup>Fields. The information in this window is used to define your smallest land areas. A separate list is maintained for each crop year.

Entering this information is required as every operation and observation is related to exactly one of these land areas.

Note: If you want to organize your land tree by key land areas with smaller land areas appearing beneath them, you must first define your key land areas and then properly allocate your smaller land areas.

Note: If you choose to allocate your smaller land areas to key land areas, you must allocate the entirearea.
